UNESCO has valued the Retiro-Prado axis as the perfect prototype of an urban cultural landscape. Its 200 wooded hectares explain the historical evolution of the city since the 16th century, and were also the first in the world to open to public use. This environment has served as inspiration for other walks in Latin American countries such as Mexico, Peru or Cuba.

This Landscape of Light is the first property to obtain such distinction in the city of Madrid, and the fifth in the Community. A special and unique feature is the incorporation of science into the urban landscape of the area with the creation of the Cabinet and Academy of Natural Sciences.

We begin our visit at the Independence Gate of Retiro Park. We will access the Park, where we will explain its transformation until it became the current public park, and we will tour the most emblematic places.

After a walk, we will leave the park towards the Paseo del Prado. There, we will be located in strategic places, from which the guide will convey to us the history and curiosities that have occurred in one of the best-known Walks in the world.
