The romantic walk of the visionary poet: the Los Jerónimos neighborhood
Tour description
Did you know that Madrid has a second hidden Royal Palace ? And a single Gothic church... with a Renaissance cloister!? And a mythological hippodrome?
All this (and much more) is found in the Los Jerónimos neighborhood, the most ambitious experimental laboratory of the crazy 19th century that resulted in a fairy-tale city . It is the area with the most urban and architectural restructuring in the History of Madrid, where the baroque splendor, the eighteenth-century manners, the long sunset of Romanticism and the dawn of Modernism are found like nowhere else in the city... just next to the Center and with hardly any tourists.
The most representative buildings of the last 500 years of Madrid are in Los Jerónimos, a neighborhood for non-conformist travelers in which to discover romantic French, Italian, English and German influences, as well as the most authentic Spanish styles . The neighborhood of arts and sciences, finance and silence. An island of singular beauty, essential to marvel at in Madrid.
(Due to the Summer heat, I also offer the option of visiting the National Archaeological Museum or the Naval Museum, in the same neighborhood, starting at 5 pm).
