Tourists can do a lot of activities in Hanoi, but one thing they shouldn't miss is the opportunity to experience and taste local street food. This is the excellent way to learn and feel the local culture and lifestyle.
I will walk you, starting from Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, through small and shady streets in the Old Quarter such as Bao Khanh, Hang Trong, Nha Tho, Ly Quoc Su, Hang Gai, Hang Thiec, Hang Buom, Ma May, etc.
Along the way we will stop over in street food shops for you to enjoy the dishes such as (may not be all, depend on your stomach space):
1. Banh Tom: A locally traditional deep-fried dish using shrimps as main ingredient, served with fresh herbs and sweet sour dipping sauce.
2. Banh Goi: A pillow-shaped dish filled with minced pork, glass noodle, wood-ear mushroom, carrot sticks, served with fresh herbs and sweet sour dipping sauce.
3. Banh Mi: A Hanoi style bread filled with options of pork, beef, chicken, duck combined with chilly sauce, fresh herbs, cucumber.
4. Bun Ca is fish noodle soup. Crunchy deep-fried fillet fish chunks served with noodle soup cooked with tomato, onion, green mustard, dill.
