Free Night Tour of Rome
Tour description
We will begin our tour with the Spanish Steps with its Trinità dei Monti steps, as well as the Spanish Embassy in Rome, the oldest in Europe. We will continue until we reach the Trevi Fountain, perhaps one of the most spectacular fountains in Rome.
We will continue our tour and cross via Corso to reach Piazza Colonna and admire the Column of Marcus Aurelius , then stand in front of Palazzo Montecitorio or the Italian Parliament or Chamber of Deputies. It is a palace designed by Bernini and where the consultative power of Italy is represented. In front of the palace there is an Egyptian obelisk.
Our next stop will be the famous Piazza Navona with its amazing marble fountains by Bernini and his school or, as examples of Roman Baroque, the Church of Santa Agnese in Agone . During the Roman Empire, this square was the Circus-Stadium of Domitian where chariot races were held.
We will continue our visit along the Via dei Coronari until we reach the Tiber River and cross the Ponte Sant Angelo with its beautiful sculptures of angels, to contemplate the Castel Sant Angelo; first it was the Mausoleum of the Emperor, and later a refuge for the Popes in case of an attack on the city of Rome, as happened in the Roman Affair of 1527.
We will continue along Via della Conciliazione and stop to observe St. Peter's Basilica , perhaps one of the most famous monuments not only in Rome, but also in the Christian and religious world.
We end our visit in St. Peter's Square, designed by Bernini and which will welcome us in our final stretch.
Are you wondering what Christmas is like in Rome? Well, you're in luck, because from December 8th to January 6th , on our night tour of the city, we'll soak up the Christmas atmosphere as we stroll through its streets and squares. We'll talk about some of the typical dishes of its gastronomy at this time of year and discover the history behind some of the most deep-rooted Italian traditions , such as the day of the Immaculate Conception , the Ceppo di Natale or the Befana . All this while we enjoy the lights, the decorations or even a Christmas market as we stroll through such emblematic places as the Piazza di Spagna, Via del Corso or Piazza Navona. Buon Natale!
