Tour description

Mombasa has a long history dating back to the 2nd century AD Mombasa's most prosperous period was probably in the 15th century, when it was the largest and most sophisticated trading city on the coast. The coastal cities were controlled by Swahili and operated as independent principalities.
Around the year 1500, the people of Mombasa wore robes of gold and lived in beautiful multi-story houses richly decorated with bentwood.

Rich in a variety of cultures, the tour starts at Fort Jesus , an old building dating back to the 16th century, Mombasa Old Town dating back to the 2nd century, Slave Market ( today's Spice Market).
