Outside visit
Funicolare centrale
Augusteo station (starting point), dates from the year 1995. This cable car is an important point of union between the downtown and the upper neighborhoods (those on the hill). You get to Piazza Fuga Station, Vomero neighborhood. (It currently costs €1,30, one way ticket) The trips are daily with a frequency of 10 minutes. There are some direct non-stop trains from Augusteo to Piazza Fuga station and viceversa.

Vomero
Elegant up-hill neighborhood in Naples, founded at the end of the XIXth century, therefore the latest part to be developed in this antique city. It's mainly residential, but there are also many shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and important point of historical interest, like Saint Elm castle (cc. XIII and XIV) with the panoramic 360º view of the city; the museum of Saint Martin monastery (c. XIV), and the beautiful La Floridiana park, etc.

Petraio
Petraio is an area of Naples which takes its name from the homonym village (Gradini del Petraio, "Petraio steps" on Vomero hill. The word Petraio does not derivate from the name of the stone quarry, bur from from a place where flood rains deposit pebbles, the layout of the uphill way follows the route of one of the many alluvial riverbeds of Vomero, where a village was subsequently built, which over the years has become a place for wealthy families.
