Soy hijo de la sexta generación nacido en Bokaap. Nuestra comunidad está formada por descendientes de esclavos y exiliados políticos del lejano oriente. Como guía registrado en Ciudad del Cabo, ofrezco free tours en Citybowl y Bokaap, donde comparto la historia y la cultura de nuestras comunidades con el mundo. Me encantaría mostrarte nuestro vecindario. Tengo una fuerte conexión con la comunidad en general. Soy director de la asociación de turismo de Bokaap y director de Bokaap Helpers Garden, que es una organización sin fines de lucro en la ciudad que se centra en la jardinería comunitaria. También tengo un conocimiento profundo de Robben Island, ya que viví allí durante más de 10 años.
This tour was a very special one. It is impossible to explain in words. All I can tell is that we have learnt a lot and got very happy with all the exchange. Ilyas is such a nice person, presented us to diferent perspective which we would never know if only walk around Bo Kaap streets and the colorful houses without the tour. Thank you very much for this. Definitely a highlight of our vacation. Ilyas did a great job leading us through the streets of Bo Kaap, introducing us to his friends and showing us his dedication and love for the local Community. The tour was so informative and well guided - an absolute must for all visitors!
Ilyas is an amazing guide. He did not only walk us through Bo-Kaap but also introduced us to various locals. Besides talking about South African/ Bo-Kaap history, he also shared so many stories about his upbringing, family, community projects etc. which made the tour even more interesting.
