Sono un figlio di sesta generazione nato a Bokaap. La nostra comunità è discendente di schiavi ed esuli politici dall'estremo oriente. Sono un direttore della Bokaap Tourism Association e un direttore del Bokaap Helpers Garden, un'organizzazione non governativa della città che si concentra sul giardinaggio comunitario. Ilyas was an excellent guru. For those of us looking for more than the usual watered-down information from tourist guides, Ilyas provided an accurate context about the neighbourhood, along with a critical and political perspective from someone who grew up and still lives in the area. Exceptional! Highly recommended!

Amazing! Best walking tour I've ever done. Besides being a true local, Ilyas took us trough his neighborhood Bo Kapp, where he and his family have been living for 6 generations. He's a professional guide at a local museum as well. Super interesting all the history knowledge he shared with us regarding Cape Town, Malay Culture and all the Ethnic communities that made Bo kapp a true gem in the city

Ilyas shared stories and insights you simply can’t find in a guidebook, offering a unique perspective that only someone from the neighborhood could provide. We had the chance to taste the best local snack made by his auntie (seriously delicious!) and even bumped into his mum along the way, which just added to the warm, authentic feel of the tour.
