Sono un figlio di sesta generazione nato a Bokaap. La nostra comunità è discendente di schiavi ed esuli politici dall'estremo oriente. Mi piacerebbe mostrarvi il nostro quartiere. Ho un forte legame con la comunità più ampia. Sono un direttore della Bokaap Tourism Association e un direttore del Bokaap Helpers Garden, un'organizzazione non governativa della città che si concentra sul giardinaggio comunitario. Ho una conoscenza approfondita di Robben Island, poiché ci ho vissuto per oltre 10 anni.
Despite the rainy weather, we were pleasantly surprised that our tour wasn't cancelled. Mohamed was absolutely amazing, he took us on a wonderful, informative, and detailed tour that we would highly recommend to anyone. Not only did we learn more about the rich history of Bo Kaap and the area itself, but we also gained insight into the current challenges faced by the local community. It was truly inspiring to witness the strength of community spirit and how supporting one another can shift perspectives and create positive change. We had the chance to visit a local tourism market and meet some of the most well-known individuals who are working hard to support both tourism and the community's growth. A heartfelt experience and definitely a must-do for anyone visiting South Africa and Bo Kaap!

The tour with Mr Muhammad was very personalized and relaxed. We were welcomed with warm hugs into people’s homes and learned about community initiatives taking place. Our guide himself is a piece of history as he and his family are from Bokaap, therefore the storytelling was fascinating. Muhammed’s knowledge was vast and he was able to answer any questions we had. The tour gave us a good understanding and appreciation of a very unique and vibrant place and community and we appreciate all the time given to us. Highly recommend.
