Flavors of Peru: Exploring the Roots and Cultural Influences of Creole Cuisine
Tour description
Would you like to get to know Lima through its flavors and its stories?
I invite you to explore the heart of Lima's Historic Center with me. My name is Víctor Hugo Urteaga, a chef and researcher passionate about the history of Lima's Creole cuisine. This isn't just a food tour, but a lively journey through the flavors and knowledge that have shaped our identity.
🌆 We begin in front of the Museum of Italian Art, to understand how Lima's cosmopolitan face was built. Then we walk into the pre-Hispanic past at Plaza Francia and the Josefina Ramos de Cox Museum, and from there we embark on a sensorial journey that connects history, migrations, traditional dishes, and figures like Pancho Fierro, Ricardo Palma, Rosa Mercedes Ayarza, and much more.
🥪 Along the way, we'll savor a traditional Lima sandwich, specialty coffee from Oxapampa with a mini masterclass, anticuchos and fruit in the central market, pisco sour in a beautiful English-style bar, and Doña Pepa nougat with history and flavor in front of Plaza San Martín.
🎧 More than a tour, it's an experience of reflection and exchange. We discuss identity, migration, memory, and food, sharing anecdotes and questions that have moved travelers from all over the world.
