From the Roman Norba Caesarina to present-day Cáceres.
We will explain the Roman origin of this fantastic city starting from its original walls and gates to the most current Cáceres outside the walls , with its famous Helga de Alvear museum.
We will visit the oldest intramural route. we will go to the
Puerta del Río , the oldest in the Cáceres wall , of Roman origin. We will talk about the layout of the Norba Caesarina neighborhood, and the importance of this arch and the Ribera del Marco for a city to exist in this location today.
We will go through Caleros street , one of the oldest and most traditional in the city, and we will discover what life was like here a couple of centuries ago.
We will arrive at the Church of Santiago , the first Christian temple in the city and place of origin of the Order of Santiago. This was the first Christian neighborhood in the city when it was still under the power of the Muslims.
We will also see the Palace of Francisco de Godoy , from Cáceres who accompanied Pizarro to the Americas.
Advancing through the city and history, we will arrive at the most current Cáceres ; We will visit Pizarro street , an area of bars and leisure
and from there we will reach the final point of the visit, the Helga de Alvea r contemporary art museum , one of the largest private collections in all of Europe, today located in a spectacular building designed by the 2022 National Architecture Award winner, Emilio Tuñón
