Hi, I'm Malik from Galle, Sri Lanka. I'm working as a tour coordinator while working as a tourist driver for my direct clients. I have experience with traveling around this island but I'm more excited to do some walking trails in my hometown (Galle). I will explain the history of the fort while walking through each bastion. We can visit churches/mosques/temples/museums etc... So... Welcome to my City!!
Hi everyone, and welcome to Galle.
Galle (Gale) is said to take its name from "Gallus", the Latin word for rooster, and Galle (Puncto de Galle, Pinto Galle, Pontogal) first appeared on Ptolemy's world map of the 2nd century AD where it is mentioned as a busy port, trading with Greece, Persia, Rome, Arabia, China, and others.
On November 15, 1505 a Portuguese explorer and military commander, Lorenzo de Almeida (Son of the Portuguese Viceroy of Goa) landed in Ceylon and established a settlement here thus permitting the expansion of the Portuguese Empire in Asia.
Getting interested noh!!!! haha.
The story doesn't end up with the Portuguese...next Dutch and then British!!!
So let's have a fine cup of tea and start the journey...The Bastion Tour/Museum visits/Sunset/Antiques and more interests..
Starting from the entrance, you will get the chance to witness,
Ending the tour at the Sunset viewpoint!.
See you soon😉
Ayubowan!
