Free Tour of Nuremberg's Old Town
Tour description
Nuremberg is a wonderful city full of history. On my tours I want to show you the best of Nuremberg with its customs, legends, typical foods, beers and stories. Live a full experience at the hands of a true connoisseur of the city. The tour begins in front of the Frauenkirche, at the Hauptmarkt. The main market and its history is surprising. Today it is the center of the city and an experience full of flavors, smells and colors of the products that are available there. At noon we will live a unique experience with the Carrillon of the Frauenkirche. The structure tells us about the importance of the city in the Middle Ages, in the middle of the Holy Roman Empire, but it also tells us about the worst historical moments of the 20th century. The Fleischbrücke is our next stop. The beef market and the pork market were of great importance in the Middle Ages, and today they show us the scars of the IIGM. Lorenzkirche is one of the two important churches within Nuremberg. Its construction, destruction and reconstruction is full of interesting details for everyone. In the Museumsbrücke we will be in front of the Hospital of the Holy Spirit, one of the typical postcards of the city. Taking photos along the Pegnitz River is inevitable. We move towards the Bella Fountain that lives up to its name. Did you know that there is a legend around the Fountain that says you have to touch a certain object to get some luck? We will discover it together. The other important church for the city is San Sebaldo, next to its doors we will tell about anti-Semitism in the Middle Ages and how National Socialism later used it to justify its atrocities. Nuremberg was the city of Nazi congresses, we will tackle this black chapter of history and talk about the background and about the famous Nuremberg Trials. We go up the hill to the Kaiserburg, from there I will tell you how it is divided into three and we can have the best views of the city. Next to the Alberto Durero house museum we will talk about this art genius. After the proper recommendations on where to eat the roasted sausages from Nuremberg and drink the best red beer, this wonderful tour ends.
