Hello, I am Candelaria, I was born a traveller, it is in my genes, my first plane ride was at 9 days old. I first came to Morocco in 1987 as a young backpacker. It definitively made a huge impression on me, but I never imagined I would end up living here. Chaouen is my home since 2004. I will be delighted to show you around town, and hopefully you will understand why Chefchaouen is so special, way beyond its famous blue walls. I have learnt that people enjoy seeing Chaouen through my eyes, a foreigner very well adapted to a culture so different to my own. I speak Spanish, English, French, Italian, Arabic and Portuguese and have lived in many countries. I love good food, nature and hospitality, which are the reasons why I do this. I own a small guest house (Riad Jibli) which keeps me busy, my life is quite simple in this sweet town.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of a walk through the old town of Chefchaouen with my guide. Her knowledge, anecdotes and stories were enriching and she was familiar with the back streets and non touristic areas as a resident of twenty years. I would definitely recommend this tour.
My family and I absolutely loved this tour! Candelaria was very knowledgeable about the area and showed us many parts of town that we would never have known to look for otherwise. We also loved that we could take the tour at our own pace since it was a smaller group - if we wanted to look in a shop for a minute or talk to someone passing by, Candelaria was very patient and made sure the tour was exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Chefchaouen.
Candelaria was everything we wanted when we're been told about the existence of this app and honestly at the end of the tour I can safely say she went well above and beyond of what was promised. Candelaria's has an extensive travel experience and a solid multicultural background. She struck me as an avid reader and a person interested in global politics, economics, culture etc. All these are making a huge difference between the usual tour guides you find in tourist places of Morocco, Egipt etc. because Candelaria always put things in perspective and she is telling you a broader story beyond the scope of the regular tour information. I strongly recommend her as a guide but as well as a host in Chefchaouen. Be sure to check her road downtown the village.
