Hello travelers! Welcome to San Jose! My name is Jules. I was born here in Costa Rica and raised in the United States. Experiencing both cultures has deeply broadened my perspectives of the world in a meaningful way.
With more than 15 years of living in Costa Rica, I can truly say I have adopted the “Pura Vida” lifestyle – from excursions deep into the jungle to experiencing the music and food unique to the country. And as an avid reader and cultural buff, it’s been a fascinating journey to learn about the history that surrounds this amazing city. It will be my pleasure to be your guide!
Let me share the stories that can open your eyes to the wonders that are in front of you as we take a journey from the past and see things in the present in a fresh way as we walk through history and its ties to the present – and beyond!
This tour is tips based – so just know your tour is incentivized for the highest quality and enjoyment! The idea is to provide you with more than just a standard walking tour. I was an ESL teacher for many years so I know the value of keeping a group engaged and interested.
We've been on about 100 of these free walking tours, and Jules was one of the best we've ever had. He had great stories and anecdotes. Having been born in Costa Rica, then growing up in the USA before returning, gave him great insight into what Americans would find interesting. He provides free snacks at one stop and pays for generous free snacks at the other. He took us to places we might not have found out about on our own. He gave stellar advice on restaurants and things to do. He made San Jose seem beautiful and fun! (it seemed a little ugly and boring on our first day). Only two complaints: 1) he meets you in a vaguely described, crowded place where there are literally dozens of toursstarting at the same time and doesn't have an umbrella, a special hat, or any identifying features. He was late due to traffic and didn't make sure he had the whole group of people by name. As a result, he left behind half the group before he started. The other folks gave up and left, but he helped us to find him at his 2nd stop. 2) The info was a little basic for anyone who has already done some reading about Costa Rica, but that is part for the course on these tours.
Jules was a very informative guide, lots of useful information and history provided.
Wir fanden die Tour mit Jules richtig toll.. Jules ist ein sehr sympathischer und interessanter Guide, der es versteht, andere für seine Stadt und sein Land zu begeistern. Wir würden diese Tour auf jeden Fall empfehlen.
Jules Was a great guide. He was very knowledgable and took care showing us around some very interesting parts of Panama City.
He was perfect. His guidance was incredibly helpful in understanding Costa Rica and San Jose. He was also kind and genuinely caring. I consider it a blessing to have had him as my guide.
