The tour was really interesting and Hector was so honest and open about his personal experiences and the changes he has seen in the country. Hector asked us whether we wanted the tour to be more focused on history / culture / recent politics etc so we were able to tailor the tour to what the group was interested in. He was really friendly and answered all our (many many) questions. Overall a great introduction to Santa Ana, and El Salvador.
I recently went on a guided tour in Santa Ana with Hector, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. He was overly focused on sharing personal anecdotes that, while interesting, lacked historical context, which left me wanting to know more about the significance of the places we visited. Additionally, the group size was way too large, and since the guide didn’t speak loud and clear, it was hard to hear him. This meant we missed out on much of the information, which made it feel like a waste of time. We often stopped at interesting spots but weren't offered any explanation as to what made them important. Overall, this tour felt more like a casual stroll with a friend who happened to be in the area, rather than a meaningful exploration of Santa Ana's history. Did not live up to the hype.

Hector was an amazing guide. After the tour I felt like I had a proper understanding of the countries history and culture. His relaxed style meant he catered the tour to what the group wanted which was wonderful. Also he took us for coffee at the end and we were able to do a Q&A of all our remaining questions. He gave us his contact details should we ever need a friend in El Salvador or need help/recommendations. A lovely guy with some amazing stories and genuinely passionate about giving us the best experience possible, the highlight of my Santa Ana trip
