Juan / One (our guide) was EXCELLENT! He was the perfect mix of laid back and professional. I’ve been travelling in Vietnam for two weeks and just arrived in HCMC, and I learnt so much about the country and Saigon! Had so many of my questions answered by our guide with generosity and sincerity.
Great tour! Dong’s English was exceptional and his education and knowledge was great. We loved his passion for his country and ability to convey complex history in a meaningful manner. Photos integrated with real life stops along the way were very helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with us, Dong!
Even though we tasted some good stuff (and was full at the end), it felt a bit disjointed and just “here’s some food.” We would have liked more information and context about the food we tried, specific ingredients, and south vietnamese cuisine in general. Dave was very nice, but I think his fluency limitations hindered his ability to talk about the food as much as we would have liked (and it was just my husband and I on the tour). Also, for the last stop, we took a cab (we paid) to a busy touristy walking street, just to get a beer. It wasn’t worth it, and wasn’t food related. The neighborhoods we walked through before that (small, non-touristy) were much better. We’ve done many free walking tours around the world and really enjoy most of them. This one wasn’t our favorite.
