Ich bin gebürtige Istanbulerin (ich hasse Istanbuler) und habe mehrere Jahre in anderen vielfältigen und schnelllebigen Städten gelebt, darunter Houston, Boston und London. Ich denke, ich kann Ihnen eine einzigartige Perspektive auf Istanbul geben, indem ich es mit anderen Metropolen vergleiche und Ihnen letztendlich zeigen kann, dass es mit keiner anderen Stadt der Welt vergleichbar ist. Ich bin selbst eine begeisterte Reisende und schätze die spontanen Kontakte, die unterwegs entstehen, sehr; rein aus gemeinsamer Neugier und einer unausgesprochenen Vereinbarung, einen Moment miteinander zu teilen. Ich werde versuchen, diese gesellige Atmosphäre auf meinen eigenen Touren zu schaffen.
This tour is very off the beaten path. While the city is steeped in history, it is easy to only focus on the sights and structures and completely miss the fact that this is a living and breathing city which is living its history. The tour compliments any of the other Old City and Europe/Asia tours. The guide takes you to hidden corners as well as places that are in plain sight that you’d walk past without a glance if you didn’t know. Definitely a unique experience!

Have you ever been to a new place on your own but somehow felt that you can actually see it from a local’s point of view? Have you ever been to a new place without knowing anyone and yet felt like you already have a friend there to guide you around and give you best of the recommendations? For most of my trips, I would’ve said no too, but that was only until I happened to reserve this tour for myself on my recent solo trip to Istanbul. Şahika, who’s a local from Istanbul but with exposure of around the the world, a student of political science with interest in history and an outlook for the future puts her heart and soul in making this tour a special one, as you don’t only get to see the city from a local’s point of view and get to see places that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to (literally not because some of them are on a private property) but also from a historical and a cultural standpoint. While the places covered and the tour by itself was just what I needed to get started in knowing the city and its past but her recommendations before and after the tour allowed me to visit the city in a way that I couldn’t have imagined. Kudos to her for this experience. Highly recommended 💯 Great engagement, professionalism and commitment on and off the tour.
