Free Tour of Valladolid: Enigmas, Stories and Legends
Tour description
What secrets does the city that was the Spanish capital between 1601 and 1606 hide?
It won't take long to find out, because at the appointed time we will meet in the Plaza Mayor to begin the free tour of the mysteries and legends of Valladolid.
The Plaza Mayor, as described by the Valladolid writer Miguel Delibes in his novel El hereje , was the site of various autos-da-fé during the time of the Holy Inquisition. After learning some stories related to the Holy Tribunal, we will head to the monastery of San Benito el Real. Did you know that a miraculous Christ was kept inside? The next stops will be in front of the palaces of the Marquis of Valverde and Fabio Nelli. Both are full of mystery!
Next, we will head to Plaza de San Pablo. This esplanade houses the church of the same name and the Pimentel Palace, where Philip II was born.
We will continue our free tour of Valladolid walking to the José Zorrilla House-Museum, where we will learn the story of an enigmatic ghost.
Finally, after an hour and a half of walking, we will conclude our free tour at the Church of Nuestra Señora la Antigua, where two fascinating stories await us to put the finishing touch.
