Palazzo Vecchio: in the heart of the Medici power. A dream becomes reality. .
Tour description
Between the end of the thirteenth century and the beginning of the fourteenth century , a building took shape in Piazza della Signoria as a symbol of Florentine power. With its solid and severe ashlar façade, it aims to tell us a story steeped in blood and ferocious internal struggles.
Anyone who sees it for the first time is fascinated by it and subjugated by fear. Even today it inspires dismay and fear in visitors.
It took a man like Cosimo I Medici and a woman like Eleonora di Toledo , a wise and devoted wife, to convert the ancient and dark medieval fortress into a splendid palace worthy of two enlightened sovereigns. In a short time it was the residence suited to the rank held by the new Princes.
Thanks to a happy union, founded on love and a formidable intellectual understanding, the Palace changed appearance to become a shining court that made the most appreciated European palaces pale in comparison.
Together with the new Princes we will pass through halls , private and public rooms where the young couple lived and worked. Truly surprising and unique places decorated by Vasari and assistants, adorned with statues of rare beauty, such as the Salone dei Cinquecento, the Pope's rooms and Eleonora's private rooms, such as the Sala Verde where the beautiful Eleonora retreated.
A breathtaking journey that will lead us to the halls of the Geographical Maps to discover what the world was like at the end of the 16th century.
This visit will transform your stay into a unique and unforgettable experience.
