Tour the remaining Gilded Age Mansions on Fifth Avenue! In a concentrated area. These stunning castle and palazzo like structures were built from the late 1800s to the early 1900s by the Fat Cats of the Industrial Revolution. The remaining structures have new lives, some allowing partial access.
We will begin at East 92nd Street at the Jewish Museum, and walk down 5th avenue through what is now museum mile down to 72nd Street, ending at the glorious Frick Mansion. We will learn about the history of over 15 buildings from their origins to their conversions and current uses.
Some of the buildings we will visit include : the Felix Wahrburg House, (The Jewish Museum) the John Henry Hammond house, the Andrew Carnegie Mansion, the William Star Miller House ( currently the Neue Galerie), the Harry F. Sinclair House (The Ukrainian Institute) the Payne Whitney House ( The French Embassy), the Henry Clay Frick Mansion and more!
The Frick Mansion is currently under renovation and will open to the public in early 2025.
