Discover Puerto de la Cruz, the most important city and tourist centre in the north of Tenerife. Founded in the 16th century, it was one of the most important ports on the island during the colonial period, along with Garachico and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In addition, it was the first tourist destination in the world, where illustrious people such as Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Dukes of Kent and even relatives of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria and the younger brothers of the Romanov family came. This allows us to experience first-hand the transformation of one of the most emblematic places on the island.
The visit begins next to the sculpture of Ángel Martín Acosta, and then we go around the new dock and Plaza Europa, where we will talk about the Canary Islands' footprint in America. We visit the Mirador de San Telmo, where we tell the story of César Manrique and his imprint with the famous Lago Martiánez. We will walk around the historic centre and end in the Barrio de la Ranilla, the most colourful and lively part of the city.
I invite you to discover this city with the help of Canarias te Guía, a team of official guides, experts in our local towns and cities. We look forward to seeing you there!
