HI! My name is Elena and I am an official guide in Italy. I love my job as a tour guide. I am sure that every city, every place, beyond its own history and culture, has its charm and certainly its secrets.
The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana was founded in 1618 by Cardinal Federico Borromeo. The cardinal donated his art collection to the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, which he himself established in 1607, in order to guarantee free artistic and cultural education for anyone with artistic or intellectual qualities.
Walking from one room to another I will present to you the most extraordinary masterpieces of all time, such as Leonardo's Musician (his only canvas preserved in Milan), Botticelli's Madonna del Padiglione , Titian's Mary Magdalene , Caravaggio's very famous Basket , Raphael's largest Cartoon and other curiosities that attracted the most celebrated European poets and writers of Romanticism to Milan in the nineteenth century.
At the end of the visit we will see the copy of the famous Last Supper, the very famous Atlantic Code by Leonardo da Vinci.
and finally I will also tell you what lies beneath the Palazzo Ambrosiano.
