Free tour of Baeza, the city of three cultures.
Tour description
Different creeds and customs coexisted in one of the most beautiful cities in the province of Jaén. We will discover its legacy on this free tour of Baeza, the city of three cultures.
We will begin this free tour of Baeza, a city of three cultures, from number 8 Portales Zapatería.
After a brief introduction about the town, which has the privilege of being one of the 15 Spanish cities declared World Heritage Sites, we will begin the walk through the historic center of Baeza.
We will first walk along the Paseo de la Constitución , which housed the old market square. Then, we will learn about the origins of the old University.
The walk will continue in the Plaza de Santa Cruz, where we will see the church of the same name and the Jabalquinto Palace from outside.
Our walk continues to the Plaza de Santa María where we will see the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, which stands on the site of an old mosque. In turn, the bell tower of the current Christian temple corresponds to the minaret of the now extinct Muslim temple.
Finally, after a one-and-a-half-hour tour, we will conclude this free tour of Baeza in the Plaza del Pópulo, located very close to the point where we began the route.
