Tour description

Oh, I will share with you the cultural and historical aspects of Gulu a new city found in the Northern region of Uganda. How has Gulu evolved through times as a district, its name, people and rising from its scourge into the newest city on the block that everyone is yearning to visit. In addition, I will take you to places that are not so touristy, hidden, so that you can enjoy this city like a local!     We will visit Gulu market the biggest market in Northern Uganda. We see how imperishable products such as African fabrics are sold including tailoring. We see how perishable products are sold such as food stuffs. What are the locals food preservations. We taste street snacks. We visit one of the galleries supporting mainly University students.

    Ker Kwaro Acholi Ministry of Production & Investments HQ

    Here we visit Chief or King’s palace locally called Rwot. Now the cultural history of Acholi. We shall pass by a village local market. If we have time, we pass by the origins of Gulu. Note: entrance to palace we may or not be charged.

    TAKS Art Centre

    We visit one of the biggest art galleries and learn its poignant story behind the arts. We may experience here local dishes for lunch. We may pass by Gulu art market too.

    Takataka Plastics

    We visit the global Award winning plastic recycling centre. If the director is around he will talk to us. If he is not, we just have a look and see some innovative recycled products. We visit their hangout. Could have a drink there. We may visit another gallery. Or head to Gulu university.

    Here we visit the expatriate hangout area. Can have touristy foods.

    Pece Stadium

    We visit the Pece stadium. It’s history of World war. We conclude our tour from here and walk back to town passing by local shops of both permanent and impermanent structures.
