Tour description

Embark on a fascinating journey through the history of Melilla with this guided tour and discover the rich heritage of a city that has been inhabited for almost 3,000 years.

Our tour begins in the Plaza de los Aljibes , where we will meet to marvel at the imposing architecture of the Almacenes de las Peñuelas , currently part of the Museums of Melilla, these warehouses date back to the 18th century.

After visiting the spectacular Plaza de los Aljibes, we will delve into the Castilian history of the citadel from the Puerta de Santa Ana and its Gothic Chapel. During this visit we will immerse ourselves in the historical context and daily life of “Old Melilla” between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Then, from the Puerta de Santa Ana and the Chapel of Santiago , we will resume our historical walk through the halls of the Melilla Archaeology Museum, learning about incredible archaeological remains found in Melilla and its surroundings.

Spectacular ceramics, coins and amphorae reveal that Melilla was a flourishing city thanks to its industries based on honey, salt and minerals.

We will conclude our visit to the Archaeological Museum of Melilla in the best possible way, admiring the incredible military models of the citadel that will transport us to what life was like in Renaissance Melilla.

We will continue our visit at the Casa del Reloj museum*, where there are two points of great cultural interest for the Capilla de la Ramada, the Batería Real.

After admiring the incredible bird's-eye views of the four fortified enclosures, we will dive into the Conventico Caves that sheltered its population during the sieges that took place between the 17th and 18th centuries.

Finally, after skirting the Wall of Crosses and contemplating Cape Tres Forcas with the sea in the background, we will say goodbye at the Melilla Interpretation Centre inside the Torreón de las Cabras.
