You wouldn't expect to find a Spanish city on African soil with a historic military fortress, modernist architecture and a fusion of Mediterranean, European and African cultural heritage. An apprentice of Lluís Domenech called Enrique Nieto, who is credited with inspiring the city's collection of modernist buildings, and a legacy of curved buildings with natural motifs that can be seen in the city's Golden Triangle. Hello, my name is Patricia and I am an official guide of Melilla, a beautiful African city bathed by the Mediterranean. As a guide of Melilla I love to teach all interested travelers about its history, typical places and curiosities. My tour will not leave you indifferent, you will learn interesting things and have a more than pleasant time. So if you do not want to miss the fun and get to know Melilla, do not hesitate and come and enjoy!
Rather than wandering around the city without directions, why not take the historical and ethnographic tour?
Discover the importance of the different peoples who inhabited this African territory and take home the best of Melilla with this combination of history and local life in a single experience to gain a perspective of Melilla.
What does the Guided Tour of the Ethnographic Museum of Melilla consist of?
This is what we do:
This is a historical and ethnographic immersion that will take place inside the old Almacenes de las Peñuelas, built in the 18th century and now home to the city's Ethnographic Museum, located in the first fortified enclosure of the citadel.
This tour has been created with the aim of transmitting the multicultural wealth of our city to those who visit Melilla and feel the desire to take away not only the memory, but also a deep knowledge of the Sephardic, Amazigh and Gypsy heritage that lived in Melilla and its surroundings for centuries. And that today make the city boast of its coexistence within its valuable idiosyncrasy.
I will be at the indicated time at the entrance of the Ethnographic Museum of Melilla. Located in the Plaza de los Aljibes of the citadel of "Melilla la Vieja"
