Hi! My name is Endrin but everyone calls me Eni. I have been living in Rome since 2005 fell in love at first sight with this city and never left. I'm very passionate about history and I think this is the best place to be ☺. I love showing people this beautiful city wich for me is an open air museum. I love the food and the culture also and can't think of anywhere else I'd wanna live.

Tour description

Join me in this discovery of one of the most beautiful monuments in the world The Colosseum.

On this tour we will discover the techniques that the Romans used to build almost 2000 years ago, the structure, the games and why all this made historians say that Rome will fall when the Colosseum falls.

To visit the monument both inside and outside it will be necessary to collect tickets at the counter where everyone will pay for their own ticket. The queue to get tickets could last 10 to 30 minutes (normally).

Colosseum Tour. I did this tour with my 15 year old son simply because I thought it would really amaze him and he was really looking forward to it of all the places to visit in Rome. We arrived on time but many did not and this must be equally annoying for the tour guide. This and the fact that they added a whole other group to the tour and had to dish out headsets to everyone apparently delayed us buying our entrance tickets into the Colosseum. Between the meet up time and entering the Colosseum it was 1 hour and 50 minutes even though the Colosseum was across the road !. Although the tour guide was clearly knowledgeable by then if my son heard AC/BC again, he had had enough and I was weary also. The day previous it was teeming rain so I can only imagine what that was like and I certainly would not fancy this in summer heat. I did query the guide as to why we had not been asked to buy our tickets in advance and he advised that maybe people may not get tickets for the same time slot although when we went to get in then, we were advised to spilt up to pretend we were not a group. We were in the actual Colosseum for I'd say maximum 30 minutes with the guide. You could stay yourself after to look at the exhibits etc but by then we were shattered. The ticket to the Colosseum allows for entry into the Roman Forum also and the Palatine hill which would have been really nice to have had as part of the guide tour rather than the just under 2 hours of the history talk. Endrin was very nice and occasionally witty but the overall experience was very disappointing ...if we had signed up to a history lesson outside the Colosseum I would say fair enough but this is not advertised fairly nor were the possible delays etc. If you have young children this would be a nightmare also for elderly people I would not recommend....or for moody teenagers !!! When we left the Colosseum/Roman Forum/Palatine Hill we went nearby for food because it had been a very long morning/afternoon and as we passed by on the way back Endrin was back in the Colosseum ticket queue regaling another large group about Romans and AC/BC .... I was very glad I was not in it... I understand that this may be his job and he clearly is knowledgeable but the possible circumstances of this tour should be highlighted. I am very aware that there are queues for tourist spots in Rome Im sure everyone is...Although it was a free tour I did compensate the tour guide well despite everything.
