Discover the famous legend of Luxembourg City. At first sight, Luxembourg City might seem like a financial hub. We are well-known for having the highest GDP in Europe. However, Luxembourg is more than just banks and numbers. It has a rich history of power struggles and legends about the creation of Luxembourg.
Follow me in the footsteps of Melusina, Luxembourg's popular legend. The tour will start at the Judicial district, where we will take a moment to observe the view from the modern part of the city, the Plateau de Kirchberg. Then, we will take the elevator to the lower level of Luxembourg City. Luxembourg City is a two-level city. We have the plateau, the upper level in town and then the Grund, which is on the river level. We will follow the walk along the Alzette River and stop at the Melusina statue. We will continue the path to the Abbaye the Neumünster, a historical building with a compelling story. We will pass the half-timbered houses of the old town. We will take the elevator to join the upper level of the city. Afterwards, we will stop at a viewpoint and walk the Chemin de la Corniche. next we will visit from the outside the St. Michael Church, where the legend of Melusina ends. The tour will end at the Grand Ducal Palace which we will see from the outside.
I am excited to introduce you to my home country and share with you the compelling stories.
