Le Marais, the medieval neighborhood of Paris.
Tour description
The history of the Le Marais neighborhood in Paris dates back to the 13th century, when it was built as a hunting area for the French king. Over the centuries, the neighborhood has become one of the noblest areas of Paris. In the 16th century, the neighborhood was home to French royalty and nobility, from the Dukes of Orleans to wealthy merchants. It was also the home of great artists such as the painter Claude Monet, the writer Victor Hugo and the composer Hector Berlioz.
This led the neighborhood to be one of the most elegant in the city, full of cafes and theaters.
Today, the Le Marais neighborhood remains one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Paris. It is full of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops and art galleries. Its old streets and historic buildings, such as the Place des Vosges, the Church of Saint-Paul or the Hôtel de Sens, maintain the history and charm of this beautiful neighborhood.
The nightlife is spectacular, with some of the best clubs and bars in the city, not to mention the numerous jazz bars and karaoke bars. The neighborhood is also home to numerous festivals and events, from the most popular to the most exotic. Le Marais is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the city and is bustling with activity throughout the day.
