Free Park Slope and Prospect Park History Tour
Tour description
Join Alex on a walking tour of Park Slope and Prospect Park. We’ll discuss the area’s past, from Dutch farmland to one of America’s wealthiest Gilded Age neighborhoods, and beyond. We will weave our way through the Park Slope Historic District and visit several neighborhood landmarks, including 19th-century mansions, Revolutionary War monuments, and Brooklyn’s spectacular “Gold Coast”.
We'll climb the "slope" toward Prospect Park, or the Central Park of Brooklyn! We'll talk about the American Revolution and the Battle of Brooklyn, which took place throughout the hills of Park Slope and Prospect Park. Locations we'll visit inside Prospect Park include the Litchfield Villa, Battle Pass, and Brooklyn's iconic Grand Army Plaza.
The tour ends nearby several popular Brooklyn attractions, including the Prospect Park Zoo, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the Brooklyn Library, and the world famous Brooklyn Museum.
Along the way, you'll have plenty of opportunities to engage and ask questions.
Tours are casual, flexible, and fun, so bring your curiosity and a comfortable pair of walking shoes!
