Hi, my name is Lucas, I am a tour guide since 2010, worked in more than 20 countries. Based in Bangkok - or Manila, Phnom Penh, Montréal, Kathmandu - I follow the current of the guiding ! I am doing those walking tour now, trying to share my knowledge with first time visitors. As I am doing this without salary, tip is well appreciated, Guru guidelines suggest min 10€ or 300 Bath. I can answer all questions and show you some hidden / out of the beaten path places. If you want to see and do tourist stuff like floating market, my walks are not for you. I like to show you the normal life that is going on here in Bangkok, while I will help you with local transportation and others places to visit. With me you are walking to see things of the daily life, to feel the vibe as the local way. If you just want to know about tourist stuff, its easy by your own. With me its more about to learn/walk as the Bangkonian style.
From gigantic MBK shopping center to Chit Lom BTS sky train, we will walk in both huge downtown district to some small alleys.
Starting at MBK downtown, we learn about Sky train system and take it to Chit Lom station (25 Bath). From there we walk on the sky bridge towards the modern Apple Store and Central World shopping mall.
Then we walk down on Ratchadamri street to go up on a another sky bridge leading us to Platinum fashion mall.
Here our walk goes down some small alleys where we talk about the daily life of the Bangkonian.
This alleys leads us at the interested Chaloemla (graffiti) park.
Then we finish at Saphan Hua Chang pier where you can catch taxi boat (12 Bath) to the old city and Khao San area.
This is a downtown walk, if you fancy tourist stuff, this walk is not for you. We will be walking and using local transport as the Bangkonian does. This walk is good if you just arrived in Bangkok as we talk and use local transportation. Keep in mind that walking in Bangkok is hot and exhausting, so if you are already tired, better not to come.
If you want to feel the vibe of the daily life here, come on down !
MBK center, outside (on the platform near by the dog/cat/rabbit statue. See photo as reference. (BTS National Stadium). I am easy to spot with my many tattoos 😀
We meet here, near the white statue of the strange animal (mix dog/cat/rabbit), its on the platform, not on street level.
This is the second BTS stop after National Stadium. We exit here to walk on a skybridge towards the Apple Store.
An impoprtant shirne for the Bangkonian, Erawan is home of a God Brahma statue, many rituals and some Khon traditional dance.
Ganesha, God of wisdom and succes, remover of obstacles, right in front of Central World shopping mall.
Knows as graffiti park, its a vibrant and eclectic oasis nestled in the heart of Bangkok.
This is the pier to catch the taxi-boat. From here it's 10 minutes by boat and only 12 bath to arrive near Khao San Road. It stop 200 meters from the Golden Mount.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
