Hi, my name is Lucas, I am a tour guide since 2010, worked in more than 20 countries. Based in Bangkok - or Manila, Phnom Penh, Montréal, Kathmandu - I follow the current of the guiding ! I am doing those walking tour now, trying to share my knowledge with first time visitors. As I am doing this without salary, tip is well appreciated, Guru guidelines suggest min 10€ or 300 Bath. I can answer all questions and show you some hidden / out of the beaten path places. If you want to see and do tourist stuff like floating market, my walks are not for you. I like to show you the normal life that is going on here in Bangkok, while I will help you with local transportation and others places to visit. With me you are walking to see things of the daily life, to feel the vibe as the local way. If you just want to know about tourist stuff, its easy by your own. With me its more about to learn/walk as the Bangkonian style.
Let's explore the hidden alleys in the heart of a city of 12 millions peoples !
From the old train station to the fascinating Talad Noi, we walk deep into the day to day life of its inhabitants.
The unmissable Wat Traimit (we won’t go inside) is first on our way, before starting the search for the unusual.
After the Chinatown gate, we will scout about some back street garnised with art and decorative enjolivement, to end up at the boat pier Si Phraya through some more hidden street corners.
It's a "street art" tour, we walk through small alleys to look at some littles shrines, to talk about daily life and to feel the Bangkonian vibe. This walk is for photography’s lovers. Talad Noi it’s a lively artist neighborhood visited by local, it’s not a touristy place.
Get your camera ready, cause here, life goes on...
Right in front of Hua Lamphong train station, restaurant 511 cafe Rong Muang (exit #3 of MRT Hua Lamphong). I'll be there, easy to recognise with many tattoos. 😀
The old main train station of Bangkok, but still in use !
Historic temple features gilded exterior and a golden statue of Buddha !
Erected in 1999 in honor of the king Rama IX, this is the entrance of the Chinatown.
The southern limit of the Chinatown, just before the River City.
River City is where the modernity meet the old days. Perfect place for a quick stop, with clean restrooms, nice view over the river and snack kiosk all around !
Si Phaya is the wharf where you can jump on the local taxi boat to go either at the BTS station or in the Khao San road area.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
