Free tour of Bhaktapur City - Live Museum
Tour description
Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon or Khwopa, is an ancient city in Nepal.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square is listed as the UNESCO heritage site.
It is the living museum to watch the traditional lifestyle of the Newar people. It holds significant historical, cultural, and architectural importance and is renowned for its well-preserved medieval charm.
The tour begins at Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the heart of the city, where you'll be awe-struck by the grandeur of the 55-Window Palace, the ornate Vatsala Temple, and the towering Nyatapola Temple. Each structure boasts a unique story to tell, and I will immerse you in the fascinating history behind these masterpieces.
Strolling through the narrow cobbled streets, you'll encounter skilled artisans at work, crafting pottery with meticulous expertise – a tradition passed down through generations. The Pottery Square offers a glimpse into the city's artistic heritage, and you might even have the chance to try your hand at pottery-making.
As you continue your exploration, you'll notice how the city's Newar architecture captivates with its intricate wooden windows, doors, and struts. Every corner presents an opportunity to marvel at the craftsmanship and dedication that went into building these beautiful structures.
While in Bhaktapur, you must indulge in the local cuisine. Juju Dhau, the famous sweet yogurt dessert, and Yomari, a steamed dumpling with delightful fillings, are just a few of the delectable treats that await your taste buds.
