Tour description

The best way to discover the "stories" and the food of Monti, one of the most fashionable Roman districts closest to archaeological Rome. Free tour of 2 hours. The Romans have always had a special interest in food. On this walk, discover some of the best food in Rome, including traditional local cuisine and modern interpretations of Italian and international specialties. Each narrow alley hides beautiful monuments and also reveals favorite shops and restaurants, while the bustling squares proudly display their traditions and specialties ready to be enjoyed.
In total, 3/4 bites are included in each tour. (to be paid on the spot, food not included).

Rome is world famous for its ancient monuments, spectacular churches, impressive "piazze" and of course its food! Among the many historical sites, you will find a variety of small family restaurants, grocery stores and ice cream parlors where you can savor typical Roman food specialties. After meeting your guide in the center of Rome, you will begin a 2-hour tour of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Monti neighborhood of Rome, one of the oldest districts of the city. Hip and lively, this section of Rome is packed with famous sites and family-owned "trattorias." Your guide will narrate the trip as you encounter various historical sites and enter a typical local pizzeria and ice cream parlor for a tantalizing meal made with generations of love and proud heritage. This small-group tour (with no more than 13 attendees) ensures you'll receive personalized attention. Your guide will take you to a pizza by the slice restaurant to enjoy the local atmosphere where you will eat Suppli and Crocchette (Roman-style stuffed potato and rice balls) accompanied by a chinotto or Gassosa (traditional Roman drinks).
The tour will continue through the Monti district in one of the best ice cream parlors. This food tour not only gives you a taste of the traditional cuisine of Rome, but also introduces the rich cultural history of Rome with a licensed tour guide. Starting in the Monti area, you will see the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Trajan's Market, the world's first commercial food and business center.
In addition to receiving our Rome food guide, your local guide will give you tips and recommendations on the best places in the city.
