Join this great guided tour where we will visit the main heritage sites in the historic centre of Valencia. Ideal for the beginning of your trip, you will get a general and authentic idea of the old city.
I will explain the origin of this city as the Roman Valentia. We will start in the Plaza de la Virgen , with the Basilica of the Desamparados and the fountain that represents the Turia River... Also, did you know that this square hosts an event declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO?
We will continue to circle the cathedral, and witness three cultures. The place where the current temple dedicated to the Assumption of Mary stands is the result of the passage of time of various previous cultures and religions, including Roman, Muslim and Jewish. And on the route, we will see it.
In addition, the cathedral of Valencia holds a treasure: The Holy Chalice... Who hasn't heard of the Holy Grail ?
We will continue on to the Church of Santa Catalina with its beautiful baroque bell tower and discover the curious Plaza Redonda .
We will arrive at the Plaza del Mercat, where we will enjoy the beautiful building of the Lonja de la Seda and the Mercado Central , which is a magnificent example of Valencian modernist architecture.
Someone said: "Valencia water"! Plaza del Negrito is a good place to try it.
We will continue walking along the old and stately Caballeros street , where the beautiful church of San Nicolás is located, the "Valencian Sistine Chapel", until we reach Plaza del Tossal.
Finally, we will discover the different walled enclosures that the city has had. We will admire the curious Portal de la Valldigna and the spectacular Torres de Serranos. This incredible panoramic view will put an end to the route.
