Tour description

Welcome to the London of 1888, and the terrifying reign of Jack the Ripper!

Join me on this walk through Whitechapel where the vicious murders of these unfortunate women took place. This was a notorious Victorian slum where the poorest lived, and danger was present around every corner.

This is a unique journey which is not for the faint-hearted, and you will be introduced to graphic accounts, testimonies, rumours and photos from this dark time in London's history.

Highlights include:

murder sites including Mitre Square
the Prostitute's Church
a gaslit Victorian alley where prostitutes lived and worked
Spitalfields Market
theories and conspiracies discussed en route
a chance for a drink in The Ten Bells, a pub used by the women...and maybe Jack himself!

There is a bonus stop at the beginning of the tour, as we encounter an historic execution site!

The tour ends outside Christ Church Spitalfields, 5 minutes from Liverpool Street Station.

You will find your guide, Gary, beside the sundial which is surrounded by tales of London's history. Go up the steps next to Tower Hill Station (District & Circle lines). I will be holding a sign saying GURU TOURS.

A great view of the Tower of London, and the location on the hill of many infamous executions. We will listen to one such execution to get you in the mood for the horror we have in store for you this evening.
