As Charles I sits on his horse in the historic village of Charing, staring towards the Houses of Parliament he wonders “What if…?”. This is Whitehall. Once the grandest palace in Europe and the home of our Kings and Queens, it still retains its awe and symbols of Power.
Starting with a 13th century tale of love and remembrance you will hear how Kings not only changed this area but the whole course of British History.
The story of the building of the Palace of Westminster including its iconic bell Big Ben and where Winston Churchill sought safety during World War II are two of British History's great tales.
On this walk, you will see many of our most famous national landmarks including
Trafalgar Square: - hear about one of Britain's greatest military victories (and humiliating defeat)
Downing Street: - learn about the 'perfidious rogue' who gives his name to this street

For the 10:00 walk, there will be an opportunity to watch the Changing Of The Guards at Horseguards Parade which will add approx 30 minutes to the length of the walk (unless the ceremony is cancelled that day)
