Free tour, climb to Alto de Garajonay
Tour description
Ascent to Alto de Garajonay.
Semi-circular route, approximately three kilometers long, both outward and return.
Alto de Garajonay (1,487 meters above sea level) is the highest point of La Gomera, from where you can see (with good weather conditions) the islands of La Palma, El Hierro, Tenerife and even on clear days, the island of Gran Canaria as well.
The route will begin in the area called Contadero, a parking area between the pajaritos area and La Laguna Grande.
The ascent will be along a path that we will find to the left of the main road (cobbled), along which we will walk past several viewpoints, focused on the northwest area of the island.
We will arrive at the top of Garajonay, where we will stay for a while taking in the beautiful views of the place, taking photographs, enjoying the magnificent sunset, etc. Therefore, it is recommended to bring things to have a snack. I will also explain the different places on the Island that can be seen from the place.
We'll descend along the cobbled path, seeing the other side of the island, and we'll arrive back at the Contadero area to conclude the route.
The route can be done at any time of day,
On cloudless days with good weather, it's ideal to go up to see the sunrise or in the afternoon to watch a sunset.
It is recommended to wear warm and comfortable clothing, water (some food for a snack), sun protection and a cap.
** In case of weather conditions, the sunset cannot be seen, it will be the Walker's decision to descend whenever he wishes.
***The schedule is a guide only. It will always depend on the time of sunset. The start time is approximately one to one and a half hours before sunset. We will always contact the group to arrange and confirm attendance.
