Hi there, I'm Jony, a journalist and art student born in Argentina and living in Barcelona for the past 5 years. I created my tours to bring to light the rich history of Barcelona: centuries of history and characters that lived in these alleyways. My main goal is for each person who takes a tour with me to enjoy it while learning about the city's timeline, from the time when the Romans founded Barcino to modern and contemporary Barcelona. I hope to take you on an imaginary and real journey through the city.
Free night tour:
Spanish inquisition in Barelona
We will start the tour in Plaza de Sant Jaume, in the heart of old Barcelona, where we will know the origins of the inquisition. Then we will visit part of the old medieval Jewish quarter and we will talk about what motivated its expulsion by the Catholic kings.
Then we will go through the streets of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, while we learn how the Holy Inquisition acted , reaching the prisons and courts of the Holy Office.
We will describe the history of some great inquisitors , such as the feared Fray Tomás de Torquemada or the murder of one of them in Zaragoza. And about what happened to other famous people who were persecuted or had problems with the Inquisition, such as the painter Diego Velázquez, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra or Galileo Galilei.
During the tour we will talk about what kind of crimes were investigated, what were the punishments or torture that was applied. We will also learn about what were the statutes of cleanliness of blood, the sambenitos and the autos de fe.
I wait for you!
Important:
If the days or times do not suit your availability, or the tour you chose is complete, write me privately so we can always see how to coordinate.
Where to find me:
Next to the metro station "Jaume I" exit (in front of the elevator door) on Placa de l'Ángel. I will be dressed in a black T-shirt or jacket, a yellow folder and a small blue backpack so that I can be easily recognized
It is recommended to arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the start of the route to organize the group.
