Kathmandu Heritage free walking tour
Tour description
Meeting point: Kathmadnu Fire Brigade (Juddha salik,new road)
This heritage walk includes a 2 hr walk around Kathmandu Durbar Square, this is one of the ancient Malla Kingdoms. it is enlisted in the world heritage site since 1979. It used to be part of Royal Palace until 2008.
- We start our walk from the assembly courtyard at Basantapur Daballi. we start from the blessing from Kumari-Living Goddess. she is the only Royal Kumari in the country. there are interesting stories, myths and beliefs which I will be explaining to you. (00.00- 00:30 hrs)
- We visit various temples and the courtyard of the Medieval Palace area. We get inside the palace courtyard, ancient temples and monuments from the 8th century at least. (00:30-01:00 hrs )
- Then we walk up to the Indrachok and Ason local markets. it could be crowd but you can experience the local ethnicity. if you want to try the local food, we can go authentic newari food store.
During the walk, we visit various temples such as Machindranath temple, local Newari Buddhist monastic courtyards and many more
if you are interested in local foods then we can taste local foods as well. many legends and stories will be shared, which are very interesting as well. (01:00-02:00 hrs)
It is a cultural walk so you will be seeing ancient monuments, hearing legends, and walking in an old busy alley.
