Free Tour "Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidoro and surroundings"
Tour description
On this free tour you will get to know the surroundings of one of the most fascinating buildings in León: the Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidoro.
We will meet in the Plaza de San Isidoro, where we will learn about the origins of the building and the relationship it has with the exciting Kingdom of León.
We will get to know first-hand the curious legend linked to one of the most peculiar customs of León: "Las Cabezadas".
We will talk about the architecture of the monument (one of the best examples of Romanesque at the national level). In addition, we will also visit the castle of León, one of the most unknown buildings in the city, and the wall of Roman origin.
And we will leave the interior of the church and its two interesting portals for last: that of the Lamb and that of Forgiveness.
After the tour, and whenever it is open, you can visit the San Isidoro Museum, which houses the Royal Pantheon and its famous Romanesque paintings.
