Free Tour of A Coruña
Tour description
Discover A Coruña in a different way. We will talk about history and geography, of course! Although we will also see the city through the eyes of its inhabitants and their customs.
A Coruña is a beautiful city located in a privileged enclave where the saltpeter of the Atlantic Ocean permeates the air with that fragrance so characteristic of fishing cities. The Celts and the Romans must have thought that too when they settled in these lands.
The history of La Coruña is very prolific, as we will see in its precious monuments that we will discover throughout the visit, while in a pleasant and fun way we will tell different anecdotes that help us better understand the peculiarities of the city.
Of course, we will talk about María Pita and her heroic role during the siege by the English in 1589. Due to historical circumstances, the English would become allies of the A Coruña people three centuries later.
We will walk through the tortuous streets of the old city , one of the great unknowns of A Coruña, even for the locals themselves. There we will visit its precious religious buildings (The Collegiate Church of Santa María, the Convent of Santa Bárbara, the Church of Santiago), and also its military constructions (Jardín de San Carlos, building of the General Captaincy, etc.).
We will marvel at the city's fantastic marine galleries and then try to discover the role they play and why they are like that.
We will visit the most central streets of the city where we will see the busiest hospitality and wine area.
We will walk in front of one of the most important markets in the city, the San Agustín market and its beautiful modernist building ,
Immediately afterwards we will enter the heart of the city again where we will see the church of San Nicolás to end the visit on the magnificent beaches of the Atlantic façade of the city where we will talk about the beauty but also the bravery of the Atlantic Ocean.
Do not hesitate, reserve your place and discover the city in a different way with a local and fully accredited guide. We are sure that you will not regret it. :)
PS.: Not all the locations shown in the photos are visited on site, but instructions will be given on how to get to them.
