Palma is a city that looks out to sea, that has lived, lives and will live off the sea. It is part of its essence and the maritime influence has been reflected in its history , architecture and legends of corsairs, pirates and sailors for centuries. Would you like to discover them?
Come and enjoy and learn a little about this maritime Palma, which is so unknown to many of us. We will talk about the different seafaring districts of the city , the activity of the corsairs, we will learn about some of the most illustrious and some of their stories. Our captain Antonio Barceló, quite possibly the most important navigator in the history of Mallorca. A corsair in his origins , he became captain general of the Spanish navy.
Of course, you will also discover curious stories about the merchants and their emblematic place, the Lonja de Mallorca built by Guillem Sagrera.
We cannot forget the fishermen. The most humble but absolutely transcendental activity in the seafaring history not only of Palma but also of the whole of Mallorca.
