Tour description
During the free walking tour discover the most important monuments of the Old Town of Bonn. Learn the history of this 2,000-year-old city, admire the Beethoven House - the birth place of the one of the greatest world’s composers, and other important landmarks of the former West German capitol.
Our tour starts in front of Five Guys Restaurant, next to the main railway station of Bonn. During the pleasant stroll through the medieval streets of the old town we will discover the nine-hundred-years-old Minster Basilica, built on a Roman burial ground and the Sterntor gate testimony to the city´s medieval fortifications. The highlight of the tour is the Beethoven House, today a museum that houses the largest privately-owned Beethoven collection in the world. We will learn some interesting facts from the life of the composer and his international career. Than we visit the Old Town Hall and the University of Bonn, the former electoral residence, founded in 1818 by King Friedrich-Wilhelm III. Our tour concludes at the former tolling station „Alter Zoll“, which offers a wonderful panoramic view of the Rhine River and the Siebengebirge Mountains.
