Free Tour of Palma's walls. History and curiosities
Tour description
A unique monumental route that will allow you to discover the entire historical part of the city
Let's discover the history of Palma from the perspective of the city walls . A walk at sunset along the bay of Palma where you will discover hidden corners, surprising legends, curiosities but above all, a lot of history.
We begin our tour at the Es Baluard modern art museum where we will visit the San Pedro bastion , which was the most important site of the western defence of the city. Later we will walk along where the old Muslim walls were located, visiting two emblematic places such as the Plaza de Atarazanas and the old Lonja de Palma , the first large civil building built in the city. We continue our way towards s'hort del Re i, an orchard that was part of the Almudaina Palace which, together with the space where the Cathedral is located, is the oldest part of Palma.
The walls hide neighborhoods such as Calatrava, where we will visit Can Formiguera, the Arab baths, the convent of Santa Clara, the church of Montisión, the Jewish quarter.
Our tour will take us to the Prince's bastion , which was the most important place in the eastern defence of the city , ending at the Gumara Towers , which were ceded to the Templars after the conquest of Mallorca.
