Hello! I am Ivan Arriaga. I am historian by the University of México with master degree and I had been official tour guide since 2012. I love to show the main historical nooks of Mexico City with passion and veracity. Neither lies nor exaggerations. With me you have the warranty of kindness, quality and experience.
On this tour we visit the old neighborhood of San Ángel in depth. We will know the most magical corners of this neighborhood that today has become an opulent neighborhood of Mexico City but, no less picturesque, you will discover it!
We visit the charming Chimalista c colony, which was once the orchard of the Carmelite school of San Angelo Mártir , where there are important vestiges such as the Guardian Bridge over the Magdalena River and the Chapel of the Secret.
We visit the Church of the Colegio de San Angelo Mártir where we will see the magnificent three eighteenth-century domes covered with tile that form, until today, part of the surrounding urban landscape; We will see the beautiful atrium, and the interior of the temple, where colonial paintings of religious themes stand out.
We will visit the Plaza San Jacinto , considered today as the heart of San Ángel , where we will see important buildings such as the Casa del Risco and the large house where the famous artisan bazaar is placed on Saturdays.
We visit the Temple of San Jacinto , its magnificent atrium and we will walk through the cobbled alleys of the neighborhood until we reach the old Goicoechea hacienda (today the San Ángel Inn restaurant), in front of which the architect Juan O'Gorman built the house-study of the painter Diego Rivera and his wife Frida Kahlo.
At the end, we will walk along Altavista Avenue , today an interesting street of boutiques, and the majestic streets of the Tlacopac neighborhood , part of modern San Ángel , before returning to Plaza San Jacinto, where there are enough options to continue a pleasant afternoon.
Do not miss it!
