Old City, History & Culture Tour
Tour description
This tour starts by the western gates of the Old City and it's a combined overview of the most important landmarks, the overall history and culture of Dubrovnik.
First learn how the city, also known as The Pearl of Adriatic, came to be, how it grew and became one of the largest walled cities in Europe.
Then immerse yourselves into the turbulent political history of the city and Croatia, and you will soon realize why Winston Churchill once said that the peoples of the Balkans produce more history than they can consume.
In this tour you will also learn about the republican spirit and classical notion of freedom (Libertas) which was cherished by the nobles and notable commoners of the premodern Republic of Dubrovnik, and you will realize that we have a lot to learn from these people.
You will see:
- Kolorina Cove
