Tour description

Follow in the footsteps of the medieval pilgrim Veremundo with this tour of the historic center, where you will discover the secrets of the magnificent medieval city of Compostela and the Jacobean Way.

What stories about the city and the Camino de Santiago will this guide who has just arrived from the Middle Ages tell us?

This medieval pilgrim is called Veremundo and he is as knowledgeable as anyone about the Way and the city. He is a funny, witty, captivating and interesting being with whom you will discover what the historic center of Santiago was like in the Middle Ages and how the pilgrimage route has changed over the centuries. Your experience on the Camino will help you to tell what the attire of medieval pilgrims was like and how these pilgrims lived the Camino. In addition, you will visit such emblematic places as Rúa do Franco, Rúa do Vilar, Praza do Toural or Praza de Mazarelos. In all these places there is hidden an amazing story!

This way you will be able to discover where the history of the first pilgrim cemetery in the city is located or where the first university that emerged in the city was located and, of course, learn a little more about the Jacobean tradition, which explains the arrival of the remains of the Apostle Santiago to Galicia.

The walk will go through the main streets of the old town, where Veremundo will explain what life was like in medieval Compostela and how the city has changed.

An authentic journey through time at the hands of an exceptional medieval pilgrim.
