Belém Free Walking Tour
Tour description
We will walk though Ribeira das Naus to know more about the Tagus river, the famous bridges (Vasco de Gama Bridge and 25th of April Bridge) and the stunning statue Cristo Rei. Then we will take a train to Belém neighbourhood (7 kilometers from city center). Once in Belém we will discover the magnificent Afonso Albuquerque Square and the old Royal Palace, now Palace of the Republic. You should know that is a tour with a sweet touch, where the custard tarts of Belém are also protagonists, so we will have a break for you to taste it. And then, we will stop by the Jeronimos Monastery, so you can be fascinated by it’s elegance and majesty of the Manuelino Art. We will dig deeper into the history of the Age of Discoveries and with the help of “Rosa dos Ventos”, the Rose of the Winds we will get to know the power that the once largest Empire on the planet had. And of course we will go to the tower of Belém, a World Heritage site, to get into the clothes of the sailors that were willing to launch themselves into the unknown dark sea to discover and open new commercial sea routes.
