Rio de Janeiro Food Tour

A great tour. Eduardo has a deep but accessible knowledge of the intertwining of the history of his native Brazil and adopted Portugal. He showed the history and culture of Brazil through it’s food. Don’t eat for a couple days before this tour. We had it all: beef, pork, yucca, even chicken hearts all washed down with the best caipirinhas I’ve ever had. The Barras area has it all- the busy beach scene yet a chill island vibe. Do this tour!

Excellent tour filled with interesting and memorable history and really tasty food. Plus, you end the tour on a really cute island that is great for further exploring. A great way to see a part of Rio that I wouldn't otherwise have seen. It was also really easy to get around, we took the metro and then walked to the meeting point. Highly recommend.

The tour with Eduardo was better than we imagined. He is very intelligent, attentive, and told us many interesting stories and facts about the neighborhood. He took us to eat delicious food. He was pleasant the whole time with everyone. It was a very lively tour. I loved Barra, Rio de Janeiro is our guru.

This is a must do tour when in Rio and I can’t recommend Eduardo and this tour enough. I was the only person on this tour. Eduardo was an excellent guide. His knowledge and detailed history of the area was most impressive and as a history lover and foodie I was highly impressed. I wasn’t expecting to gain so much knowledge and insight of the area. The food choices were great as well. The best feijoada I have ever eaten and I finally got to try carne seca com aipim na manteiga de garrafa. It was awesome and I really love the side of hot sauce that came with it and wanted to buy some to take with me but they were in short supply that day. The chicken hearts skewers were excellent as well and I will definitely be seeking them out in my travels. Sorry I couldn’t have paid you more for this tour Eduardo, as you saw I was having problems with my credit cards 😟 I hope to see you in Lisbon someday. GuruWalk has great guides and tours.

Eduardo was excellent. Knowledgeable, entertaining and energetic. This is a food tour, so be prepared to eat! Don’t miss this tour. It is definitely worth the easy train ride to get there. Plus, the beaches in that area are amazing and we would not have known had we not done this. Also, Eduardo’s knowledge of Rio is the best we have encountered. So use this to find hotspots for food, drink and culture.

The tour with Martin was very informative. It was a good way to discover Rio centro.
